‘I would love to be a mum’: Shruti Haasan is open to adoption amid PCOS struggles

At 40, actor Shruti Haasanhas opened up about something she hopes to experience motherhood someday. The actor spoke about her long struggle with PCOS and how being told from a young age that pregnancy could be difficult affected the way she viewed having children. Shruti Haasan says she is open to adoption
Speaking on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast All About Her, Shruti recalled being told when she was around 14 that PCOS could make it difficult for her to conceive. For years, she believed motherhood might not be possible for her. However, a later conversation with her gynaecologist, Dr Dhrupti Dedhia, changed how she looked at the situation.
Shruti said she told her doctor that she was even open to adoption because she “would really love to just be a mum.” At the same time, she said she would like to try for a biological child as well.
Shruti Haasan’s doctor gave her a different perspective
According to Shruti, her doctor did not tell her to give up on the idea of having children. Instead, she explained that there were different options and that they could discuss them whenever Shruti felt ready. The actor said seeing reports about Cameron Diaz becoming a mother later in life also gave her hope. She said her doctor’s approach helped her understand that having PCOS did not automatically mean she could not become a mother.

Shruti Haasan has not announced any immediate plans to have a child. Her comments were instead about keeping her options open and becoming a mother when the time feels right for her. For the actor, the conversation has also been about changing the way she thinks about PCOS and fertility. After years of believing that the condition could close the door on motherhood, she now says she is open to both biological motherhood and adoption.
