Zimbabwe welcomes Australia to Harare for a three-match ODI series beginning September 15, marking the first bilateral 50-over tour between the sides on Zimbabwean soil in more than ten years.
Both teams will see the series as an early step toward the 2027 ODI World Cup. For the hosts, Sikandar Raza takes over as Zimbabwe’s stand-in captain in Richard Ngarava’s absence due to a lower-back injury.
They have called up experienced hands in Brendan Taylor and Graeme Cremer alongside a core of Craig Ervine, Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl and Blessing Muzarabani.
Meanwhile, Australia will be led by Mitchell Marsh, with Pat Cummins and much of the senior squad rested for the upcoming tour against South Africa. Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood remain the few senior players alongside Alex Carey and Adam Zampa who anchor the Aussies.
Uncapped players Cooper Connolly, Joel Davies and Oliver Peake will also be looking to finally make their debuts for the defending champions. Australia have an intimidating 29-4 lead in the 33 times the two teams have faced each other in the 50-over format, but like with Bangladesh, nothing can be said beforehand.
