Roblox Stock Jumps as New AI Tools Drive Developer Conference Momentum

What Happened?

Roblox (RBLX) stock jumped more than 11% today after the company unveiled a wave of new features and AI tools at its annual Developers Conference, marking 20 years since the platform’s founding.

Last quarter alone, players spent 29 billion hours on Roblox across more than 180 countries, and today’s announcements aim to build on that scale with better ways to play, build, and discover games.

On the playing side, Roblox is rolling out some big accessibility upgrades. Players will soon be able to jump into games directly through a web browser without downloading an app, and offline solo play is coming by mid-2027 for times when internet access is spotty.

The company is also expanding a new Friends chat tab that follows players between games, along with voice typing and upcoming “Quick Words” that let players coordinate gameplay safely and quickly.

Roblox is also pushing into new game types. The company is adding engine features like an orthographic camera and sprite-sheet imports to better support 2D and puzzle-style games, a category it hadn’t fully tapped into before.

Perhaps the biggest news for creators is Build, a mobile-first AI tool that lets anyone create a game just by describing it.

Since its alpha launch in New Zealand, creators have already published around 9,000 games using Build, and notably, 71% of those users had never touched Roblox Studio before.

Build’s public alpha is now expanding to Serbia and Singapore, with new features like an asset library and desktop access.

A “Scene Generator” tool is also coming later this year, letting creators generate full game layouts from a simple text prompt.

On the discovery side, Roblox’s Moments tab, where players watch and click into gameplay videos, is now fully live in the U.S. Creator earnings are also getting an upgrade: since 2013, creators have earned more than $5 billion on the platform, including roughly $1.7 billion in just the past 12 months.

New tools called Roblox Wallet and Roblox Card will give creators faster access to that money, with Wallet rolling out later this year and the Card following in 2027.

Wall Street responded quickly. BofA Securities raised its price target on Roblox stock to $48 from $44, though it kept a Neutral rating.

The firm pointed to a higher chance of viral hits emerging under Roblox’s updated discovery approach, which now favors long-term platform retention rather than just retention within a single game.

BofA cited the rise of the game “Steal an Egg” as early evidence this fine-tuned algorithm might be working, and noted that Roblox’s revenue grew 41% over the past twelve months.

Not every analyst is fully on board.

Oppenheimer actually lowered its target to $50 from $82 due to revised 2026 estimates, though it kept an Outperform rating.

Jefferies maintained a more cautious Hold rating with a $38 target, citing concerns about user growth headwinds tied to the algorithm changes.
