Roblox offline play is coming alongside browser play and prompt-based game creation as the platform expands beyond the app that has contained its games for 20 years. Players will be able to launch a game from its Experience Details Page in Chrome by the end of 2026, without installing the Roblox app.

Roblox offline play arrives after browser gaming

The browser player is designed for links shared through search, YouTube, X, email or a creator’s social channel. Roblox says support for other browsers will follow Chrome.

Creators will be able to offer offline solo play alongside live multiplayer modes. Roblox expects offline play to become available by mid-2027, with early access coming sooner. The company says Roblox offline play is intended for weak or unavailable connections, although each game will need to support the mode.

Roblox is also working on Roblox Everywhere, which will let creators make games available as standalone apps on mobile, PC and consoles while Roblox provides the underlying engine, identity, social, safety and economy services.

Roblox AI game creation expands to more creators

The company is expanding Build, its prompt-based game-creation tool, from New Zealand to Serbia and Singapore. Build has produced about 9,000 games since its alpha launch and 71% of creators who used it had not previously used Roblox Studio

Build is gaining desktop access, an asset library and iterative controls. Later this year, Scene Generator will let creators use a text prompt and reference image to generate a functional layout in Build and Roblox Studio. Roblox is also adding NPCs that can playtest games and respond to player actions.

Roblox says players spent 29 billion hours on the platform last quarter across more than 180 countries. The company’s announcements put more distance between Roblox as an app and Roblox as the infrastructure underneath its creators’ games. Earlier coverage of Roblox’s UAE chat changes and its Saudi game-development partnership shows how the platform is already expanding beyond games alone.

When is Roblox browser gaming launching?

Roblox says players will be able to launch games in Chrome from an Experience Details Page by the end of 2026, without installing the Roblox app.

When will Roblox offline play be available?

Offline solo play is planned for mid-2027, with an early-access period expected sooner.

    What is Roblox Build?

Build is Roblox’s prompt-based creation tool, which lets users create and publish games without starting in Roblox Studio. It is expanding beyond New Zealand to Serbia and Singapore.
