Chappell Roan at the 2024 Government Ball
Chappell Roan is a fast-rising singer-songwriter with a unique style for her stage wardrobe. She is inspired by drag and is not afraid to go all out in her performances. Her fans love her style and share their concert outfits and outfits online, showing off their creativity by recreating her looks and making their own.
One look that’s perfect to recreate comes from one that took the internet by storm: her Statue of Liberty look from Gov Ball. This costume requires a bit more work to create than other costumes, but it can be done by any level of artist. To create this look, we’ll start with makeup. The exact foundation she used was Link, a green body foundation that should be mixed with white for a lighter, softer green. This will be applied to the face, neck, ears, chest, back and arms. Also take green body glitter and apply it to the highlights on your arms and chest. Chappelle also put paint on her legs, but if you want it to be more wearable, you can wear the light green bodysuit I’ve linked to as well. You can wear short green bike shorts over it. When applying makeup to your face, use dark green eyeshadow to outline the contours and add dimension to your face. You can also add more white to the high points of the face. For eyes, darken eyebrows with black or dark green. Also add silver finish rhinestones to the highlights. Use silver, black, white and dark green for eyes. For lips, wear green lipstick and top it with a metallic green gloss or even metallic green eyeshadow. Paint your nails green or apply green acrylics.
For her Statue of Liberty tiara, use the garment as a base and glue silver mirror tiles to it. For the handheld torch prop, you can leave it as is or cover it with glitter of the corresponding color. Create her outfit: As mentioned previously, wear a light green tube top, short green bike shorts, and use a wide green belt as the base of the skirt. Cut strips of light and dark green faux leather or fabric and attach silver snaps to each strip. Attach them to a wide belt, which will act as a skirt. You can also do the same with the dark green strips on her shoulders, attaching them to the bandeau with snaps. For her necklace, use any New York themed charms to create it and attach them to the necklace.
