A customer heading into a Costco outlet was shopping for toilet paper when he came across a powerhouse of a gaming PC, the MSI Aegis ZS2, which came with an RTX 5080 and other impressive hardware to futureproof you for several years. Best of all, the purchase cost him $2,100.

The lucky Redditor with the username “Primary-Football642” probably had no intention to purchase a gaming PC, but fate has a funny way of getting hardware enthusiasts to make decisions they never thought they would in the first place. At the Costco outlet, the MSI Aegis ZS2 featuring an RTX 5080 was also complemented by a Ryzen 9 9900X, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, a 2TB PCIe NVMe Gen 4 SSD, along with a wired keyboard and mouse combo.
Even though the price was mentioned as $3,599 CAD (approximately $2,603), the Redditor had a polite chat with the floor manager, who offered him a decent discount, taking the total down to $2,900 CAD ($2,096). The manager slashed another $100 CAD from the total when the buyer found that the USB cable for the keyboard was also missing, resulting in a hefty discount to become the proud owner of the RTX 5080.
For a “no holds barred” gaming experience, a better CPU than the Ryzen 9 9900X would have been the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but given that the latter is in high demand thanks to its superior gaming capabilities, the MSI Aegis ZS2 would likely have fetched a higher price. Still, the Redditor can switch the CPU at any time, and it’ll be much cheaper than upgrading to a new graphics card.
There have been similar instances where customers had their lucky stars around them. For instance, one individual came across MSI’s Vector 17 HX AI gaming laptop equipped with an RTX 5090 GPU for just $2,760, while a Razer Blade 18 owner who placed an order for an RTX 5080 configuration received an RTX 5090 upgrade instead at no extra charge.
