Ukrainian Fan Culture Documentary Arrives on MEGOGO

A priest, teacher and deputy share one unexpected bond, while a film captures the fan movement on the eve of a historic upheaval.
The documentary film “The Clash of Ukrainian Fans,” directed by Oleksandr Brahin, is now available to watch online on the MEGOGO streaming platform.

The film tells the story of Ukrainian football fans’ lives before Russia’s full-scale invasion and explores the history of football-related subculture.
An officer, a priest, a teacher, a street sweeper, and a member of parliament – they are all part of Ukraine’s football fan movement. The Cossack spirit of the Ukrainian nation emerges through the history of football fan subculture and the life of the fan movement amid the events of 2021, on the eve of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The film’s protagonists come from different professions and hold different views, but are united by a shared passion for football. The filmmakers also explore the distinctive features of Ukraine’s underground football scene.
Most of the people featured in the documentary are now defending Ukraine with weapons in hand as members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The film was produced by Kinokvartal LLC with the support of the State Film Agency of Ukraine.
