The DC Universe was off to a mixed theatrical start as Superman soared to new heights, but Supergirl came crashing down. However, the new superhero franchise found success on the small screen thanks to the recent release of Lanterns-a gripping mystery show that sees Hal Jordan and John Stewart slowly uncover a galactic conspiracy right in the heart of Rushville, Nebraska. The world is now under the series’ spell, refusing to miss a single episode regardless of whether it premieres in the brightest day or in blackest night.

The opening of Lanterns has drawn more than 20 million viewers since its release, and episode 3 hit a new record by averaging 10 million viewers after just three days on air. The HBO Max show has showcased an impressive week-to-week growth, and a writers’ room for season 2 has already begun. DC’s newfound success may have caught the attention of Marvel, which has a mixed record when it comes to its Disney+ adaptations. As such, the veteran studio may be looking to replicate the success of its competitor.

Marvel is reportedly developing a Heroes for Hire Special Presentation along the lines of True Detective and Lanterns

According to industry insider Alex Perez , Marvel is working on multiple Special Presentations for Disney+, such as Strange Academy, Werewolf by Night 2, and Heroes for Hire. Furthermore, theterns and True Detective

NEW YORK, NY - MAY 27: Mike Colter and Finn Jones are seen on the set of

Heroes for Hire is a business founded by Luke Cage in the comic book world that offered investigation and protection services to regular citizens. Eventually, Danny Rand’s Iron Fist also joined the agency, and the collaboration between these two heroes would continue for years, with other characters like Misty Knight, Black Cat, and Colleen Wing also coming into the fold.

Luke Cage recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe by having a cameo in the finale of Daredevil: Born Again season 2. While the hero’s appearance in the Man Without Fear’s adventure was very limited, it was merely a setup for bigger things to come. After all, the show also explained that he now lives with Jessica Jones and that the two have a daughter named Danielle.

Pictures taken directly from the set of Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 revealed that Finn Jones’ Danny Rand will also return to the small screen, not only confirming that the Defenders will be back in action, but also suggesting that there is some weight behind the claim that Heroes for Hire will be heading to Disney+.

In a similar manner, renowned scooper Daniel Richtman also stated that Marvel is working on a mystery show, and while no title or description was provided, it isn’t far-fetched to assume this report is also referring to the Heroes for Hire Special Presentation. After all, a tale about a superhero investigation agency trying to crack a seemingly normal case that spirals into something darker would definitely fit the mystery genre.

Perhaps one of the biggest differences between Lanterns and Heroes for Hire is that Marvel is looking to develop the project as a Special Presentation rather than an episodic series. That means there won’t be weekly cliffhangers, and that Luke Cage and Danny Rand will likely solve the case very quicly. Granted, the presentation could always fit into the larger MCU and lead to other future storylines, but its scope would certainly be much smaller.

Marvel has yet to officially announce that the Defenders are returning on the small screen, nor has it released a trailer for Daredevil: Born Again season 3. On the bright side, these big TV announcements are expected to take place at this year’s New York Comic-Con in October, so there’s also a slight chance that the studio takes advantage of the spotlight by unveiling Heroes for Hire (provided it is indeed coming our way). However, it’s also unlikely that the Special Presentation will be released as part of the Multiverse Saga, so its reveal could still be a long way off.

Daredevil: Born Again season 3 will be released in 2027.
