Over the years, it’s become increasingly clear that everyone loves a good crime thriller. A fast-paced series with lots of action that keeps you on the edge of your seat. After over two years of waiting, Netflix brought back one of its best crime series, The Gentlemen,back for a new season.
Theo James and Kaya Scodelario are back as Eddie and Susie in The Gentlemenseason 2 as the dynamic duo who duck and dodge various threats and enemies as their empire expands. From beginning to end, the new season brings shocks and surprises you will never see coming.

Big Mistakes
Here’s a series that you can easily finish within a few hours, and it’s the perfect post-The Gentlemen season 2 palette cleanser. Big Mistakes comes from Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy, who headlines the crime comedy alongside Taylor Ortega. In a sense, the stars play their own version of Eddie and Susie, though they are much, much less adept in the crime world.
When a stolen necklace spirals into a wild and dangerous situation, Nicky and Morgan wind up fighting for their lives working for a very dangerous crime organization. A priest and a teacher, they are way out of their element. But they soon get caught up in breaking bad and making money, though the season finale twistmakes them face reality in a very shocking way.
Big Mistakesseason 2 is officially in production, which makes now the perfect time to catch up on the first season. While there’s still plenty of waiting to do before the cult favorite comedy returns with its second season, if you didn’t catch the show when it first premiered, here’s your sign to climb aboard the funniest crime comedy currently on television.
The Brothers Sun
On nearly every list of recommendations for Netflix shows to watch, there’s inevitably going to be at least one show that was canceled after one season. Just because a show was canceled doesn’t mean that it’s never worth watching again. Shows can be enjoyed even when their stories are incomplete, it’s just a different viewing experience than a completed series.
That being said, don’t forget about the one-and-done Netflix original action comedy-drama The Brothers Sun,which stars Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh. In the series, a family comes back together after their father was put into a coma after being shot by an assassin. Soon, the youngest member learns that his family was involved with and hiding from dangerous gangsters in Taipei.
The Brothers Sun premiered on Netflix back in January 2024, and two months later, the streaming service opted not to renew the series for a second season. The series received mostly positive reception from critics, but viewership was clearly a problem. Even though there are only eight episodes, that doesn’t mean the series shouldn’t still be discovered or revisited.
Black Doves
Sure, there are probably plenty more Netflix shows similar to The Gentlemen that you could tune into and perhaps enjoy watching. But the mixture of crime, action, and humor is a unique combination that not every show offers. For instance, you’re not going to find many laughs or really any levity when you watch Ozark. That’s about as dark as a crime drama gets.
However, if you want the best of multiple worlds, the streaming service has another British series with action and light humor to spare. Black Doves features a bit of dark comedy, but when you get down to it, the series starring Keira Knightley is a spy drama through and through. The series centers on spies for hire who steal high-profile secrets that put them directly in harm’s way.
It’s the kind of show that has high stakes in each episode, keeping the viewer guessing throughout the entire season. Black Doves premiered on Netflix in December 2024, and we’ve been waiting for the second season to drop. Thankfully, season 2 will arrive this fall with another batch of new episodes. With only six episodes in season 1, you can binge in the blink of an eye.
