The South Korean gaming company is increasing its stake in India’s digital economy.

    Highlights

    • KRAFTON has already invested $250M in India and plans to double that commitment.
    • Its India portfolio includes Nautilus Mobile, KIGI, and the new KIGI Academy with IIT Madras.
    • The company is positioning India as a base for developing games, startups, IP, and emerging technologies.

KRAFTON’s Chairman, Byung Gyu Chang, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Sept 4, 2026. The company announced plans to invest another $250M USD in India over the next three to four years. KRAFTON has already invested $250M, taking its planned investment in the country to about $500M (~INR 4.7 Cr).

The meeting also highlighted opportunities between India and South Korea, with KRAFTON linking its plans to the government’s “Create in India, Create for India, Create for the World” vision and the broader Viksit Bharat agenda. CEO of KRAFTON India, Sean Hyunil Sohn, also attended the meeting.

Chang described India as a market of “immense opportunity” and pointed to its talent across gaming, technology, and innovation. He said KRAFTON wants to work with Indian developers, creators, and entrepreneurs on globally relevant experiences and technologies.

KRAFTON Builds India Presence Across Studios, Talent, and Startups

KRAFTON claimed that the new capital will support India’s gaming ecosystem, homegrown IP, and startups while expanding into robotics, AI, and deep tech. The company has invested in around 18 companies and funds across gaming, esports, interactive entertainment, consumer technology, and startups.

Its India portfolio includes Pune-based Nautilus Mobile, which KRAFTON acquired and which operates the Real Cricket franchise. The company has also established the KRAFTON India Gaming Incubator (KIGI) and recently launched KIGI Academy with IIT Madras. The program is designed to provide practical game-development training.

Separately, KRAFTON, NAVER, and Mirae Asset have established the Unicorn Growth Fund, an India-focused investment vehicle. The fund has a target corpus of $670M (~INR 6K Cr) to back high-potential, growth-stage technology companies.

The combined focus on capital, studios, talent, startups, and technology positions India as a development base for KRAFTON, not simply a market for its games.
