‘Famous Last Words’ Interview With Gloria Steinem Streaming Now On Netflix

Famous Last Words, the Netflix series that features filmed interviews with notable figures held in trust and released posthumously, is now streaming an episode featuring feminist icon Gloria Steinem.

Steinem, who died at age 92 in New York City yesterday, was interviewed for the series by Famous Last Words executive producer Brad Falchuk in February 2025. According to the Netflix announcement, Steinem “takes advantage of the Famous Last Words format to speak freely about her loves, her family, the complicated personal politics within the feminist movement and her regrets.”

“The episode captures Steinem not just as a media spokeswoman, but as a lifelong traveler on the road to justice,” the announcement states. “While the world often recognizes her as a face of modern feminism, this interview delves into her deep-seated interests in the shared origins of sex and race caste systems, the cultures of Indigenous peoples, and the vital necessity of organizing across boundaries for equality.”

“Gloria Steinem was the steady heartbeat of a revolution,” Falchuk said in a statement, “but in this room, she was a woman reflecting on the simple, profound beauty of human connection. She spoke about the intersection of race, gender, and peace with a wisdom that only comes from a lifetime on the front lines. Even in her final moments, she was organizing us, challenging us to keep moving forward. It is an extraordinary privilege to share her final thoughts with the world.”

With the latest installment of the series Steinem joins a roster of previous interviewees that includes Dr. Jane Goodall and Eric Dane. The show uses remotely operated cameras “to ensure an atmosphere of total intimacy,” allowing Steinem “to speak without the pressure of a public stage, offering a reflection that is as personal as it is political.”

As the interview concludes, Steinem will look directly into the camera to deliver a final, unedited message.

Famous Last Words is based on the Danish format Det Sidste Ord. The series is executive produced by Falchuk and Mikkel Bondesen through the Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision banner, alongside BSNA (a Banijay Entertainment company), David Goldberg, and showrunner David Friedman.
