Earlier this year, Pokémon Champions for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 received a higher age rating in Germany and Brazil than in certain other regions due to regional age classification requirements.
Pokémon Champions Junior, which features a lower age rating to ensure younger players can participate in Championship Series events, will release on Nintendo eShop in Germany and Brazil on 9 September 2026. This version of the game excludes select features, such as in-app purchases, Pokémon trial recruitments, and various in-game items. It is otherwise largely the same game as Pokémon Champions.
Starting with the 2027 Championship Series season, VGC players attending events in Germany who will be under 12 years of age on the first day of the event and players attending events in Brazil who will be under 14 years of age on the first day of the event must play with Pokémon Champions Junior. Players of those ages or above may use the standard version of Pokémon Champions. Both versions are fully compatible with each other.
