A 560Hz OLED Gaming Monitor From Alienware? Yes, Please!

Alienware is at IFA in Berlin, where it’s teasing two new gaming monitors, the 32-inch 4K OLED and the 24.5-inch 560Hz QD-OLED.

The Alienware 32 4K OLED (AW3226Q) takes advantage of the same RGB Stripe Tandem technology as the recently reviewed Alienware AW3926QW, bringing it to a flat 32-inch, 165Hz 4K (3,840-by-2,160-pixel) panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

RGB stripe tandem OLED combines the deep blacks and fast response times with improved brightness, color purity, and text clarity. It does so by stacking four emissive layers behind an RGB-stripe subpixel arrangement of red/blue/green/blue. This change leads to richer HDR scenes, cleaner detail, and sharper text for both gaming and everyday PC use.

According to Alienware, the four-stack tandem emissive layer is a significant advancement in OLED technology. After proving the new tech’s effectiveness in the AW3926QW, which won an Editors’ Choice award for Best Ultrawide Gaming Monitor, Alienware hopes to expand the technology into a form factor that fits more desks and budgets.

The AW3226Q offers 1,000-nit peak brightness, an infinite contrast ratio, and is certified for VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 and Dolby Vision. The panel is factory-calibrated to Delta E<2 color accuracy and covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color range, Alienware says. The monitor is also AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, Nvidia G-Sync, and VESA AdaptiveSync-certified.

High-Refresh OLED: The Future of Esports?

Alienware also revealed the 25 560Hz QD-OLED (AW2527HX), built for competitive FPS and esports players who prioritize refresh rate above resolution. Alienware co-developed this monitor with the pro esports players from Team Liquid, using their feedback during development to reflect the needs of elite competitive gaming. 

The 560Hz, 24.5-inch, 1080p monitor is the fastest Alienware has ever built, with a 0.03ms gray-to-gray minimum response time. The company says the monitor marks a generational leap over TN-based esports monitors that have long dominated competitive setups. Asus and Samsung have also announced 500+Hz OLED gaming monitors.

Typically, esports gamers prioritize performance over visual splendor, but the AW2527HX aims to make that choice a thing of the past. The monitor is certified VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600, with infinite contrast, and zero backlight bleed. A matte anti-glare low-reflectance (AGLR) coating maintains image clarity under bright tournament lighting. You can expect 1,500 nits of brightness, as well.

The screen is not the only part of the monitor tuned to esports gamers. You’ll also find a telescopic stand that lets you tilt the screen to more extreme angles for greater ergonomic flexibility. Height and rotational markers let you replicate your exact setup at any venue, while the compact base is perfect for letting your keyboard rest on. A dedicated esports button switches between 4:3 and 3:2 aspect ratios instantly, and there’s a rear-flip headset hanger that keeps your headset within reach. 

The Alienware 32 4K OLED Gaming Monitor (AW3226Q) is $699.99 and will be available this fall. The Alienware 25 560Hz QD-OLED (AW2527HX) will be available early next year. Stay tuned for our full reviews.
