Why Pay Nintendo Switch 2 Prices When Nex Playground Costs Less and Doesn’t Even Need Controllers

Console prices have been a huge joke lately. The Xbox Series X released back in 2020 at a price point of $500. In the last couple years, Microsoft has announced the MSRP would be going up on three separate occasions. It now sits at $800 new. As of the beginning of this month, Nintendo even announced new pricing for the Switch 2, bringing it up another $50 from its original price. Sony is no better.

It’s a tough time to get into video games. If you want something new and exciting that you can play games on, you have to be a bit more creative with what you look for. Enter the Nex Playground. This camera-based console evokes the fun of the Kinect for the Xbox 360. For even older gamers, it might remind you of the EyeToy on the PlayStation 2. It’s a much cheaper entry point into gaming than anything offered by Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo, and right now, it’s on sale.

Amazon has the Nex Playground selling for 20% off. It’s usually going for $299, which is already significantly lower than its competition. The 20% discount, though, ends up taking it down even further to just $239. You’ll be able to save $60 for a limited time.

    Plug and Play

The Nex Playground sets up easily. You interact with the system and its catalogue of games using your body movements, no controller necessary. Games can support up to four players playing side-by-side. It’s a fun way to get the whole family up and on their feet.

Right out of the box, the Nex Playground comes pre-loaded with five different games you can play at no additional cost. These titles include Starri, Whac-a-Mole, Go Keeper, and Party Fowl. Though, the favorite above the other four almost certainly will be Fruit Ninja. The game we all had on our phones two decades ago takes on new life with motion controls, and honestly, this seems like the way it was always meant to be played. There’s nothing quite like slashing up pineapples and watermelons by swinging your whole arm out in front of you.

    Full Catalogue of Games

If you tire of the five pre-installed games, you can access tons more with a Play Pass subscription. This will grant you access to more than 30 other titles with more being added to the roster. Some even center around fan favorite characters like Barbie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, How to Train Your Dragon, Peppa Pig, Care Bears, Elmo, Miraculous Ladybug, Gabby’s Dollhouse, Kung Fu Panda. A subscription to Play Pass ends up being $49 for three months or $89 for the whole year.
