Lionel Richie has been hospitalized after performing in St. Louis over the weekend.
The “Hello” singer checked himself into a local hospital after his performance at the Muny in Forest Park on Saturday. He is currently in the intensive care unit and being checked out for possible dehydration. Richie hopes to be discharged on Tuesday,s
Local radio station 104.1 FM KMOX reported that Richie “asked for a chair” during Saturday’s closing performance of his 1983 hit “All Night Long.” Richie can be seen sitting in video captured of the performance.

Richie was hospitalized in June after telling the crowd at the tour’s inaugural show in St. Paul, Minn., that he felt dizzy and needed to sit down. “Now, I want you to know, that’s the first time in the history of ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’ I’ve done it sitting down. That’s a bad sign, y’all,” he joked to the audience at the at Grand Casino Arena.
He returned to his tour with Earth, Wind & Fire over a week later, keeping the energy light at the start of a Pittsburgh show by ribbing, “I had you worried there for a minute.” He then told the PPG Paints Arena, “You have no idea what I have been through in the last 24 hours, listening to my friends tell me their advice on what I should be doing.”
Richie first announced his Sing a Song All Night Long tour with Earth, Wind & Fire in 2023. The first, 20-city stretch of that arena tour ran through 2024, and the two mega-acts picked it up again in 2026.
The Grammy winner was forced to postpone a number of earlier dates on the tour after his June spell, and he isn’t scheduled to be back on stage until Sept. 26, for an engagement at San Francisco’s Chase Center. Richie’s last scheduled tour stop isn’t until Jan. 30, when he plays at the Lucas Oil Live in Thackerville, Okla., after a six-date residency in Las Vegas.
