Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake was rated by the ESRB, suggesting a proper reveal could be close

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake (which could be followed by a Twilight Princess remake) has been rumored to be in the works, so its official announcement during last month’s Nintendo Direct didn’t leave many too surprised. The short teaser, however, definitely wasn’t enough to provide a good picture of how the game will play when it launches later this year on Nintendo Switch 2, but a proper look at it may be coming soon, as the highly anticipated remake was recently rated by the ESRB.

While the usual rating summary has yet to be published, Nintendo updated The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake page on its official website with anESRB +10 rating. Although the age rating itself is not surprising at all, considering the original, the fact that the game has already been rated suggests that a proper showing could be right around the corner, possibly during Gamescom next month, which Nintendo is returning to as an official partner, or the Tokyo Game Show in September.

The ESRB rating is also a strong indication that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake will not be delayed past the 2026 release window announced last month. However, as the game release calendar is packed in both September and October, there’s a solid chance Nintendo will stick to its traditional November release window for its biggest Fall game. As such, the Japanese publisher may end up being the only major publisher going directly against Grand Theft Auto VI, which launches on November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Will the remake of what is commonly considered as one of the best games of all time manage to fight on even ground against the most anticipated game of the generation, if not of all time? Hard to say at this time, but it will still be interesting to see whether this potential confrontation contradicts all the predictions that Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive will steal the attention of all gamers for weeks.
