November is shaping up to be a big month for Korean content. There is an award-season film, a fantasy romance, two crime stories and a courtroom sequel. The titles are spread across Netflix, Disney+ and SBS. Some dates are still being locked in, so keep an eye out for small changes. Here is your watchlist.
1. The Blue Road (Netflix, November 20)
This is a crime thriller with a cross-border twist. South Korea’s Son Suk-ku and Japan’s Nagayama Eita lead the cast. Kim Shin-rok, Choi Sung-eun and Jung Jae-young round it out.
The series runs for eight episodes, so it is short and tight. The story follows two men from different countries who team up to crack a twisted case. Expect a mix of Korean and Japanese dialogue.
It is also being pitched as one of Netflix’s most ambitious Korean projects this year. If you like your thrillers lean and dark, this one is for you.
2. Good Partner Season 2 (SBS, November 20)
The legal drama is back. Jang Na-ra returns as Cha Eun-kyung, the head of Korea’s first divorce law firm.
Season 1 wrapped in 2024. It peaked at 17.7 percent nationwide viewership, which is a huge number for Korean TV. Jang Na-ra also took the Grand Prize at the 2024 SBS Drama Awards.
There are cast changes this time. Kim Hye-yoon joins as her new partner. Park Hae-jin plays a lawyer from a rival firm. Reports say Nam Ji-hyun left because of scheduling issues.
The show airs on Fridays and Saturdays and runs for 16 episodes.
3. Portraits of Delusion (Disney+, November, date TBA)
Here is the one for mystery fans. The story revolves in 1935 Gyeongseong, which is the old name for Seoul. A painter named Yoon Yi-ho is hired to paint a portrait of a woman nobody has seen in years.
Kim Seon-ho plays the painter. Bae Suzy plays the mystery woman. Choi Hyun-wook and Huh Joon-ho are also in the cast.
Suzy and Kim Seon-ho fans will remember them from Start-Up in 2020. Han Jae-rim directs. He made The King and Emergency Declaration. The budget is reportedly around 45 billion won, which signals a big swing.
4. Crash Season 2 (ENA, November 16)
The traffic cops are back, and this time the stakes are higher. The full title is Crash 2: Road of Fury. The T.C.I. team gets promotion from a local unit to a national squad. Their job is to take down crime rings across the country.
Lee Min-ki, Kwak Sun-young and Heo Sung-tae return. NCT’s Jisung joins as a young traffic officer who idolises the team. Reports describe it as his first acting role.
Season 1 peaked at 6.6 percent, one of the best numbers in ENA’s history. The show mixes action with comedy, so it is not all doom and gloom. Episodes air on Mondays and Tuesdays.
5. Possible Love (Netflix, November 6)
This is the prestige pick of the month. Lee Chang-dong directs, and it is his first film in eight years. He is the filmmaker behind Poetry, Oasis and Peppermint Candy.
Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung, Cho Yeo-jeong and Jo Yu-ri star. The runtime is 164 minutes, so plan your evening around it.
The film played in cinemas and at festivals before landing on Netflix. It is also being talked about as South Korea’s Oscar entry. Go in with some patience and a quiet room. This is a slow, layered romance.
6. Nine to Six (Netflix and Prime Video, November 25)
Be warned that listings differ here. One report says it streams on Netflix and SBS together. Another points to Prime Video. Check closer to the date.
The story is a workplace romcom. Kang I Ji leads a legal team at a car company and has no time for love. Then a gentle jewellery designer joins her team as an intern. He used to study law.
Park Min-young, Yook Sung-jae and Go Soo headline. The series is adapted from a Chinese drama called The Rational Life. Lee Hyung-min directs. He is popular for Miss Night and Day.
Think office banter, slow-burn feelings and a lot of coffee.
7. The Remarried Empress (Disney+, November 4)
First out of the gate, and probably the loudest. This is a live-action version of a hugely popular web novel and webtoon. It has 10 episodes and airs on Wednesdays.
Shin Min-a plays Empress Navier. Her husband, the emperor, takes a new mistress and then asks for a divorce. Navier agrees, but only if she can marry a prince from a rival kingdom. Lee Jong-suk plays that prince. Joo Ji-hoon is the emperor. Lee Se-young plays the other woman.
