Hollywood has opened its call for entries and added a Best International Anime Production for TV/Media category; entries close November 30

ASIFA-Hollywood has opened submissions for the 54th Annie Awards, which will be presented Saturday, February 20, 2027, at UCLA’s Royce Hall.

Submissions run through November 30. Fees range from $200 to $325 per entry, based on when the entry funds are received, and the organization is encouraging submitters to file early for the best rates. This year’s rules and the entry form are on the Annie Awards submissions page.

The 54th Annie Awards cover 37 categories, including Animated Feature, Animated Feature-Independent, TV/Media Production, Sponsored Production, Short Subject, and Student Films, along with Achievement and Honorary awards. This year sees a new category: Best International Anime Production for TV/Media.

“In keeping up with the animation industry’s growth, we’re excited to add a New Category: Best International Anime Production for TV/Media!” said Annie Awards Executive Producer Michael Paxton. “This new Annie Award shall be given to a worldwide TV/Media production that features Anime-centric elements that are inspired, styled and/or designed employing traditional anime techniques, tropes and/or themes.”

Entries must have been released in the United States between January 1 and December 31, 2026. Short subjects, special projects, sponsored productions, student films, and films in competition from Annie Award qualifying festivals may submit with or without a U.S. release.

Two other programs opened alongside submissions. Honorary Juried Award nominations opened August 3 and run through October 12, and ASIFA-Hollywood’s annual membership drive continues through February 4, 2027.

The organization’s Call for Judges opens October 12. All judges must apply for this cycle, whether they have judged before or are applying for the first time. Judges do not need to be ASIFA-Hollywood members, but must have an established career in animation and exemplary professional credentials in at least one Annie Award category. The application is on the ASIFA-Hollywood judge application page.
