Its success led to a sequel in 2023, “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor,” one of the best soulslike games of all time.

With the “Star Wars Jedi” games leaving such a strong impression on fans, we’re taking a look at other games that are similar to the pair of Respawn Entertainment-developed titles. While we’re going to be primarily including other “Star Wars” games that revolve around lightsaber combat, we’re also including some titles outside of the franchise too. Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

The game feels incredibly cinematic, built around large set pieces, including a memorable, if frustrating, sequence of Starkiller using the Force to pull a Star Destroyer from the sky. But the combat itself, particularly the lightsaber handling, feels rewarding and stands as a highlight of the whole experience. We’ve been crossing our fingers for a “The Force Unleashed” comeback, but in the meantime, we’ve always got that 2009 title to revisit.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

For more casual “Star Wars” gaming fans, the difficulty in the “Star Wars Jedi” games may catch them off guard, particularly regarding the focus on precise melee combat. For gamers who really enjoyed that challenge and are looking to take it to the next level, there’s “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.” The 2019 game is set in feudal Japan, with its titular protagonist being a shinobi who is betrayed by those seeking to harness dangerous magic. Battling through enemies from Japanese folklore, the gameplay emphasizes precise timing in parrying incoming attacks and retaliating accordingly.

Despite its heightened difficulty, “Sekiro” posted impressive sales figures and really distinguished itself from the rest of FromSoftware’s catalog. Like Cal’s adventures, Sekiro is exploring fantastical landscapes and encountering formidable beasts on his own journey. And just like Cal, Sekiro will need to master the nuances of melee combat if he hopes to stay alive. While boasting some of the most punishing difficulty of a FromSoftware title, “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice” offers its own hard-earned rewards.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

So much of “Star Wars” is visibly influenced by samurai culture, including the Jedi’s similar bushido code, values rooted in philosophy, and, of course, graceful swordplay. With that in mind, one recent samurai game that evokes strong similarities to “Star Wars Jedi” is “Onimusha: Way of the Sword.” Ending a 20-year hiatus for the Capcom hack-and-slash series, the game has swordsman Miyamoto Musashi defend Kyoto from monstrous forces threatening the city. In addition to his trusty katana, Musashi uses a variety of weapons, along with his magical Oni gauntlet.

Like “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice” and “Star Wars Jedi,” “Onimusha: Way of the Sword” heavily emphasizes defensive timing. When players precisely dodge, block, and parry incoming enemy attacks, Musashi is an absolute force of nature, cutting through entire groups of monsters in short order. At the same time, this game is much more forgiving in its difficulty than the other two titles, making it far more accessible than some of its contemporaries. One of the best action games of 2026 so far, “Onimusha: Way of the Sword” is well worth a try.
