Of course, finding a stylish, memorable costume is easier said than done—and it’s twice as hard when you’re trying to plan a couples’ costume. If you’re in a relationship, situationship, or have a BFF who’s obsessed with spooky season, you’ll have to brainstorm an idea that works for both of you.
The good news is there are plentyof Halloween costumes for couples to consider, from the topical to the timeless. A few are easy to assemble. For example, dressing up as the secretive traitors from the hit reality TV series The Traitors only requires two green robes. Others are a little more involved, but might be a worthy investment—especially if you and your spookier half are trying to win a costume contest.

Odysseus and Penelope
The Greek warrior and his steadfast wife are one of the original literary power couples. Channel the lovers at the heart of Christopher Nolan’s 2026 epic film by dressing in your most sword-and-sandals-style armor and a jewel-toned gown. For a more accessible (and budget-friendly) costume inspired by The Odyssey, go as Odysseus and Athena in two artfully draped sheets.
The Owens Sisters
Spooky season kicked off with the premiere of Practical Magic 2, reuniting Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock in their beloved roles as the Owens sisters. Pay homage to their witchy wardrobes with a look from either of the two movies. The white baby tee, denim cutoffs, the rain boots Bullock wears in the first movie (when she shares her first, passionate kiss with Michael) would be particularly easy to recreate. But both movies are dripping with outfit inspiration.
The New York Knicks and Timothée Chalamet
It was perhaps the greatest love story of this year—Timothée Chalamet (and girlfriend Kylie Jenner, queen of courtside style) watched his beloved New York Knicks play in the 2026 NBA Finals. When the team took home the rings, Chalamet’s joy was contagious.
To turn this into a costume, one person can dress as a player with a Knicks jersey and shorts, while the other becomes Chalametther ensemble based on one of his viral looks. A Timothée/Kylie duo could also be fun
Ilya and Shane From ‘Heated Rivalry’
Yes, Heated Rivalry came out in 2025—but not until after Halloween. Think of all the potential costumes waiting to be worn! Putting together two hockey player outfits to represent Ilya and Shane should be simple enough: grab a jersey, helmet, and hockey stick and people will get the gist.
Bear and Nikki from ‘Obsession’
In ‘Obsession,’ this year’s breakout horror movie, Bear makes a deal with the devil in order to get his crush to fall in love with him, and it comes at a price. Recreate the twisted couple’s look with a simple off the shoulder white tee and shorts for one person, and a sweatshirt for the other, both splattered in blood.
‘Love Island’ Contestants
This summer, millions tuned in daily to watch Love Island‘s singles couple up, recouple, pull each other for chats, and generally cause drama. Relive the phenomenon this Halloween with your finest (and smallest) bikini.What makes this look easy to identify and replicate are the signature microphones the contestants wear. Because contestants are rarely seen in enough clothes to clip a traditional mic to, they’re seen with mic packs strapped around their waist and fuzzy mics hanging on necklaces around their necks. DIY your own mic pack—some black ribbon and a few pom poms should do the trick.
Tom Holland and Zendaya
2026 has been the year of Tomdaya. Their incredibly fashionable joint red carpet appearances while promoting Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey together—plus, all the speculation about their private wedding—cemented their status as the Hollywood It couple. For a couples’ costume, copy any of their press tour looks. Or, go as Spider-Man and MJ for a more widely recognizable option.
Miranda Priestly and Nigel (or Andy) From ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’
With all eyes on The Devil Wears Prada 2 earlier this year, there’s sure to be more than one Miranda Priestly on the street. Of course, she’s nothing without her minions, Nigel and Andy. Turn the world into your runway by both dressing in looks inspired by the sequel’s aspirational high-fashion wardrobe.
Dean and Allie (as Maverick and JLO) From ‘Off Campus’
Dressing up as characters who are themselves dressed up as other characters? Kind of an iconic move. Get a little meta this Halloween by going as Off Campus’s Dean and Allie. In one episode of the Prime Video hockey romance, the future couple attend a Halloween party, with Dean dressed as Maverick from Top Gun and Allie dressed as Jennifer Lopez in her iconic plunging green Grammys dress. It’s three references in one—TV, film, and red carpet fashion.
Heathcliff and Catherine from ‘Wuthering Heights’
Of all the classic romance novels, Wuthering Heights has the most distinctly gothic feel. What’s more romantic than a character who’s so in love, he (spoiler alert!) begs his lover’s ghost to haunt him? Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi took on the roles of Cathy and Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell’s steamy 2026 adaptation of Brontë’s novel. Their divisive costumes proved you don’t have to go period-accurate to convey all the star-crossed drama.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce
The obvious choice for dressing up as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce is to have one person in a Kansas City Chiefs jersey and the other person in a Tay-inspired outfit (or any white dress, to nod to her bridal era). They’re both street-style stars in their own right, so it won’t be hard to find inspo.
The Traitors
Now that The Traitors is back on screens with an all-civilian cast, there’s no better time to dress up as one of the show’s murrrderers (read that in Alan Cumming’s voice). All you and your friend or partner need are a pair of oversized, hooded green robes. Voilà! You’re ready to scheme in the turret and fool the faithfuls.
If you want to go even more topical with the look, dress as breakout duo Rob Rausch (with overalls and temporary tattoos of snakes) and Lisa Rinna (with her dramatic signature sunglasses and cropped hair), or Maura Higgins and her Birkin (IYKYK).
Charli XCX and Troye Sivan
