TGSRTC is planning 13 high-tech bus stations across the state as integrated transit hubs with commercial complexes, food courts and entertainment zones

Hyderabad: Shopping, food and entertainment could soon become part of the bus journey in Telangana. TGSRTC is planning 13 high-tech bus stations across the state, designed as integrated transit hubs with commercial complexes, food courts and entertainment zones.
The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) said the proposed bus stations will be developed with modern facilities and better connectivity to other modes of transport.
The project has received approvals from the State Government and the Transport Department.
Bus stations to get a major makeover
Under the proposed Integrated Transit System model, TGSRTC plans to move beyond the conventional bus-stand model and develop modern passenger hubs.
The new facilities will be designed to provide a more convenient and comfortable experience for passengers, while also creating opportunities for commercial activity. The corporation said the initiative is aimed at transforming bus stations in line with changing passenger expectations and modern public transport infrastructure.
Shopping, food and entertainment under one roof
The proposed high-tech bus stations will feature commercial and business complexes, allowing businesses and traders to establish shops and other outlets within the premises.
Passengers are also expected to have access to:
– Food courts and dining facilities
– Gaming and entertainment zones
The idea is to make the waiting time at bus stations more convenient and engaging for passengers.
Better connectivity with other transport modes
The proposed stations will also focus on multimodal connectivity, allowing passengers to conveniently access other forms of public transport.
TGSRTC plans to integrate the facilities with railway and other transport systems wherever possible, making the new stations transit hubs rather than standalone bus terminals.
The corporation has identified 13 locations for the proposed high-tech bus stations:
TGSRTC has invited interested traders and business establishments to approach the corporation for the allocation of shops and commercial spaces in the proposed facilities.
The commercial component is expected to provide additional business opportunities while helping the corporation generate revenue from its properties.
According to TGSRTC, the proposed model bus stations are expected to bring a new look to passenger transport infrastructure across Telangana.
The corporation said construction works for the new facilities are expected to commence soon, marking a shift towards modern, integrated and commercially active bus stations across the state.
