10 New Premium Diecast Collectibles From Tarmac Works and Kaido House

I’ve recently contacted an interior designer to help me make some plans for my future man cave. It’s not that big of a room, but I want to find a way for it to reflect some of my biggest passions. That means I’ll need a space for my motorcycle helmet, a corner for my musical instruments, another corner for my upcoming sim rig, a place for me to write in and a display for diecast models.

I could’ve probably come up with a solution myself, but it will obviously not be as effective as what this company will be able to think of. One thing’s for certain, I will probably have to tone it down a bit with the diecast models, as there’s hardly any chance I can have all 500+ of them in plain sight.

It’s even more complicated considering I have three different 1:18th-scale cars from Solido, and have recently started drooling over some 1:12th-scale Porsches from Norev.

Prices for the latter are quite accessible at under $200 a piece, whereas anything from Ignition Models in 1:18 scale will require at least $300. That’s why it’s so much easier to just choose 1:64, as even the premium items are still affordable for most.

I haven’t seen any updates from Pop Race and Inno64 recently, but we do have 10 new cars from Tarmac Works and Kaido House to pre-order. Let’s start with the latter.

    Kaido House

The latest pre-order features four cars, and it’s no surprise to me that three of them will be a major turn-on for JDM enthusiasts. The Subaru Impreza WRX STI is a brand new casting for Kaido House, and I love that it makes a 22B look tame by comparison.

We can only see so much of the flat-four engine inside from this angle, but it’s enough for me to ask my dealer for a unit as soon as possible. I just spoke to him earlier today about the upcoming Hot Wheels Car Culture: Exotic Envy set, and it seems the waiting list is a long one.

The new variation of the Honda NSX is just as wild as the Subaru, and I can remember this casting clearly because it was the first Kaido House collectible I ever saw in the real world.

If you like Police Cars, and especially ones that have (or could have) patrolled the Japanese Wangan, then Datsun 510 Wagon is the model you might be going after here.

It’s no wonder this exists in the company’s portfolio, given Jun Imai (founder of Kaido House) designed the Hot Wheels version over a decade ago. It’s all too boxy for my taste, and I already ordered the Subaru anyway.

The Chevrolet Silverado Dually is the last item on this list, and it comes to a tiny extra feature: the fold down tailgate. I know there are several iterations of this casting out there, and the one in blue and white is what I would opt for.

    Tarmac Works

I’ve seen people converting these to mobile coffee shops, which could be an interesting approach for one of the next variations. The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Black Series is the only other non-Japanese vehicle this time, and it may seem familiar to you if you watched last year’s British Grand Prix as it was the official Safety Car for that event.

This isn’t the first time it has taken on that roll, but you’ll find other road-going variations on the market too. I’d buy the yellow one just because I’m a fan of the color, not because its affiliation with the car vlogger.

Be sure to be on the lookout for the Chrome Chase Car if you’re into that sort of thing. I noticed more and more people taking an interest in monochromatic designs like the ones produced like Joshua Vides.

I’m sure I’d pick it over the Vertex Toyota Soarer which is one of the newest diecast models on the market to feature Kuromi symbols. I already have a replica of Takahiro Ueno D1GP Soarer, and I’m almost certain nothing can top that in my books.

The EVA RT Test Type S15 isn’t half bad, but it might have worked better with white or maybe even green wheels. Even the Toyota GR Corolla will have a Chase alternative, and at this point I have to ask the question: Isn’t this getting a bit out of hand?

Isn’t it tiresome to keep searching for the “Holy Grail”, when every other collectible seems to claim that status? There’s more piece of mind in just ignoring that part of the equation, trust me on that.
