The owners of the historic Yallum Park estate near the town of Penola in South Australia hope that the release of the Netflix series My Brilliant Career, partly filmed in their home, will attract tourists to the region. This was
Filming at the historic estate
The two-storey, 17-room 19th-century mansion was built for John Riddoch, a pastoralist who later became a politician. The current owners, Andy and Annie Clifford, describe themselves as its present custodians. Andy Clifford’s grandfather bought Yallum Park from Riddoch’s heirs in 1914.
A 140-member film crew worked at the house for 14 long filming days, while the Cliffords continued living on the upper floor. To recreate some of the refined interiors, the team made silicone moulds of the stone ornamentation and door surrounds, then reproduced these elements on a soundstage in Adelaide.
Location manager Scott McCarten, who selected the estate, explained that the script required a distinctly Australian location that had remained as untouched as <a href="https://comicvibe.com/marvels-mutant-era-is-arriving-at-the-worst-possible-time-for-disney/” title=”Marvel’s Mutant Era Is Arriving at the Worst Possible Time for Disney+”>possible, as well as a large driveway for numerous scenes involving the arrival of horses and carriages. McCarten was among 600 South Australians employed for the series in the state.
