Xbox Series S and X Are Now More Expensive In the EU, UK

Microsoft has confirmed steep new pricing for “Xbox Series X” and “Xbox Series S” consoles across the European Union and United Kingdom, revealing figures well above what US buyers saw take effect earlier this month.

The increases mark the third round of price hikes Xbox’s current console lineup has faced since launch, with the global memory shortage continuing its reign of terror across all tech industries.

Xbox Series S and X Price Hike in the EU, UK

Microsoft first confirmed back in June that US Xbox console prices would rise starting August 1, but the company only shared dollar figures at the time, leaving European and UK pricing unconfirmed for weeks.

That pricing finally became public once the increases actually took effect, catching many shoppers off guard as the changes quietly appeared on Xbox’s storefront.

The flagship 1TB “Xbox Series X” with a disc drive jumped from £499.99/€599.99 to £669.99/€799.99, a £170/€200 increase that pushes the console’s price well past its original 2020 launch cost.

On the other hand, the entry-level 512GB “Xbox Series S” saw an even steeper percentage jump, climbing from £299.99/€349.99 to £429.99/€499.99.

Xbox Series S and X: RAM Shortage Still the Culprit

According to Engadget, EU residents are now paying between €150 and €200 more for Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles, while UK buyers face increases ranging from roughly £130 to £170 depending on the model.

Microsoft has attributed the hikes to the ongoing global memory and storage component shortage, driven largely by surging demand for AI infrastructure that has pushed RAM and storage prices higher across the entire tech industry since late 2025.

That shortage has already forced Microsoft to discontinue the 2TB “Xbox Series X” model entirely due to rising component costs. Xbox isn’t alone in passing these costs onto consumers either, since Sony has raised PS5 and PS5 Pro prices multiple times this year, and Nintendo has confirmed its own Switch 2 price increase is coming in September.

This only <a href="https://comicvibe.com/harry-styles-movies-and-tv-shows/” title=”Harry Styles Movies and TV Shows”>shows that the entire console industry remains under similar pressure from the same underlying supply crunch.

Is There Another Price Hike In the United States Region?

According to Xbox’s official June press release, the only confirmed price increase remains the one already implemented in the US on August 1, which raised prices by $100 for 512GB models and $150 for 1TB models.

Microsoft has not announced any additional US price changes beyond that adjustment.

Even so, the gap between US and European pricing has raised questions about whether more increases could still be coming. Some industry watchers have noted that the memory shortage shows no signs of easing in the near term, with component suppliers describing current pricing conditions as a lasting shift rather than a temporary spike.

That said, it is still expected that a price hike will arrive for the consoles in general, sometime in the future, especially as the RAM and GPU shortage is not improving anytime soon.

For now, Microsoft has not signaled any further changes to US pricing beyond what already took effect this month. However, the scale of the European and UK increases suggests the company is treating each region’s pricing independently based on local market conditions rather than applying a single uniform global adjustment.
