Omaha woman robbed of PlayStation 5 by scammer on Facebook Marketplace, deputies say
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said a woman was robbed at her home last Thursday while trying to sell her PlayStation 5.
The potential buyer from Facebook Marketplace showed up at her house, robbed her, threatened to shoot her, and then took off with the console.
Douglas County Sheriff Aaron Hanson said that you should never meet a stranger in an uncontrolled area.
“If you don’t know who exactly you’re dealing with, meet them at a safe, neutral location like the parking lot of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. We have an exchange location; it’s monitored by cameras 24/7 365, and it’s a much safer opportunity to buy or sell your property,” Hanson said.
A 22-year-old was arrested Sunday and charged with felony robbery.
Hanson also said that if someone refuses to meet you in a law enforcement parking lot, they’re probably planning to scam or rob you.
