Raiders news: Will Fernando Mendoza be a Netflix star next summer?
Website thins he will be on the “Quarterback” series in 2027
While this summer’s version of Netflix is streaming and getting strong reviews as the series usually does, there is already speculation on who will be the featured NFL played of ‘Quarterback’ in 2027, in a review of the 2026 season.
There is already speculation there would be a major Las Vegas Raiders flavor to the show
The Action Network believes Raiders’ rookie, No.1 overall draft pick, Fernando Mendoza is a favorite to be featured on the show in 2027. The actual lineup will likely be announced early next year with a streaming date of early July.
I’m buying this projection big time. Mendoza is a natural fit for the camera and he seems like he’d be a willing participant. Plus, Netflix would likely want him after featuring 2025 No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward this summer.
Plus, fellow Raiders’ quarterback Kirk Cousins is a two-time ‘Quarterback’ participant, so he could probably help make a Mendoza appearence happen.
So, let’s roll the cameras.
Me and 808Raiderguy were getting a little ahead of ourselves, joking around that if Stukes, McCoy and Dalton pan out we might have to come up with a cool nickname for the secondary.
I doubt we’ll make people forget the No Fly Zone anytime soon but we definitely have reason for optimism.
I checked the forty times on ESPN’s recently posted list of top 10 safeties, which included Kyle Hamilton, Derwin James, Budda Baker and Nick Emmanwori. Turns out Treydan Stukes is faster than all of them at 4.33 and Dalton Johnson is faster than most at 4.41.
And according to former safety Donte ‘Hitner’ Whitner on GMFB recently, the most important aspect of playing safety is communication. With Stukes and Dalton being teammates, best friends and film junkies, we just might check that box as well.
Whitner’s #1 safety is Derwin James because he can do it all: cover, tackle, blitz, deceive, communicate. The versatility of moving around the defense is what makes James special as opposed to strict centerfielders like Jessie Bates and Kerby Joseph or glorified LBs like Baker and Emmanwori
I believe we were looking for our own Derwin James when we drafted Treydan Stukes. James is thicker, Stukes is faster, but both have the versatility to play multiple roles on any given snap to complicate the picture for the offense.
James is All Pro so it’s a big ask for Stukes to have similar impact and production. But it’s probably not a coincidence that KC, LA and Denver each had at least one All Pro in the secondary of their top 10 defense.
Maybe someday our Desert Eagles will have one or two as well. Lol.
