Why Marvel refused to give ‘X-Men ’97’ more episodes

Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum explains why

In Marvel’s list of hit series, X-Men ’97 arguably sits in the top three. But each season has no more than 10 episodes.

This is what led some fans to argue that the series should have more episodes.

Because, when season two aired, it had one episode less compared to season one, and due to the wait between them, that was at least two years, made the calls for increased episode count loud.

However, Marvel Studios TV boss Brad Winderbaum said the demand of fans cannot be met because it will make the wait between the seasons longer.

Simply put, fewer episodes, sooner the arrival.

On the other hand,X-Men ’97 went into a creative reset when Marvel fired the original creator, Beau DeMayo.

Matthew Chauncey replaced him. And does this affect the seamlessness of the show?

The creative told Collider, “It’s been pretty seamless — I was introduced to Matthew [Chauncey] while we were doing Season 2.”

“The only thing I’ve had to do — because with the new generation, everybody wants to do Zooms and put it up on the monitor where you’ve got all these little boxes and stuff.”

He continued, “So a lot of times I have to insist: I like to come in and have lunch so we can actually talk face to face.”

“But yeah, it’s been pretty good. We’re all on the same page, and they’re open to every idea they come up with, so it’s been a good working relationship,” Houston concluded.
