Veteran actor Nana Patekar passed away on October 8 at the age of 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his Goa residence. According to the latest update by PTI, the autopsy report of the veteran actor has confirmed that he died of a heart attack, a senior doctor at the state-run Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) revealed on Sunday.

Nana Patekar died of heart attack, confirms autopsy report

The doctor stated that Nana Patekar suffered a heart attack caused by a blood clot, a condition that occurred when a blood clot obstructed the left main coronary artery, responsible for supplying blood to a substantial portion of the heart. The postmortem report mentions the cause of death as “acute myocardial infarction due to left main coronary artery thrombosis secondary to atherosclerotic occlusive coronary artery disease, a natural cause of death”.

Doctor at the hospital revealed that the actor’s caretaker had requested an ambulance to the medical facility after Nana Patekar’s condition deteriorated. An ambulance was then sent to his residence, located near the private hospital. Despite resuscitation attempts for 45 minutes using CPR, Patekar could not be revived and was pronounced dead at 5.10 am, a doctor had said, suspecting a heart attack.

The mortal remains were later taken to GMCH, where an autopsy was conducted.

    Nana Patekar’s funeral

Nana Patekar’s son, Malhar, travelled to Goa to bring his father’s body home. The remains were taken to Pune before being moved to the veteran actor’s farmhouse in Donje village for his last rites, which were held with full state honours.

A huge crowd was gathered to bid adieu to the departed soul. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also paid their respects. Several members of the film fraternity, including Jackie Shroff, directors Anil Sharma, Aneez Bazmee, and producer Firoz Nadiadwala, arrived to attend the last rites of the Bollywood veteran.

Nana Patekar, who had a career spanning more than four decades, was honoured with the Padma Shri for his remarkable contribution to Hindi and Marathi cinema. He was last seen in Subedar, which was released on Prime Video and also starred Anil Kapoor and Radhika Madan in lead roles.
