Media co-op has filmed the launch of the National Literacy Trust project
Ever wanted to make a comic? Now’s your chance!
The National Literacy Trust has teamed up with The Beano for The Never-ending Comic: Draw What Happens Next.
The mission is to create a comic story so big that no single writer, illustrator or classroom can finish it alone. Beginning in Dundee, the Never-ending Comic will grow with every panel, page and idea shared by schools across the country.
Aimed at pupils aged eight to 14 across the UK as part of the National Year of Reading, children will learn to use different speech balloons, create and draw characters while shaping the narrative and building the story
Messy drawings? Brilliant. Quick gags? Even better. Imperfect ideas? Always welcome. Normal is overrated.
The event is premiered on YouTube Premiere on 22 <a href="https://comicvibe.com/first-person-boxing-codes-october-2026-first-person-boxing-roblox-guide/” title=”First Person Boxing Codes (October 2026) – First Person Boxing [Roblox] Guide”>October, from 10:00 to 10:45am.
Scotland’s own worker-coop film-makers media co-op filmed the event in Dundee, at the Beano office, and in Dundee Central Library.
The Never-ending Comic webinar features Beano director of mischief, Mike Stirling, and director of mayhem, Craig Graham, plus superstar comic book author Chanté Timothy.
Mike and Graham argue that comics are one of the best ways to read, engaging both pictures and words, and look back to prehistoric cave paintings as the original comics.
Pupils will have the chance to create their own short comic in the classroom, and enter it to be printed in The Beano – the world’s longest-running comic, still drawing children into reading for pleasure, after 85 years.
