We Finally Have Some Concrete ‘Pluribus’ Season 2 Updates

It took almost a year after the ending of Apple TV’s Pluribus, but we finally have concrete updates on what’s happening with season two. Season one of the show, created by Vince Gilligan and starring Rhea Seehorn, ended in December of last year, and at the Emmys Sunday night, the pair was not only rewarded for it, but they also mapped out its future.

“It took us a while, we figured it out, but season two is not technically all written,” Gilligan said after winning his first Emmy for writing since Breaking Bad in 2014. “We’ve broken it out, which is the hard part. In other words, the plot of all episodes [has been figured out]. The first and second are written.”

“The rest of them are in various stages of being written, but we know what the whole season is, and we will share it soon with Rhea,” he continued. “Sometimes the actors like Karolina [Wydra] and Samba [Schutte], sometimes they don’t necessarily want to know. They kind of want to be surprised, which I kind of like that.”

Seehorn, who also finally won an Emmy after several shocking snubs during the run of Better Call Saul, backed up Gilligan’s claim, revealing she still hadn’t seen anything yet. But Wydra apparently knew a bit more, confirming to the Hollywood Reporter that filming starts “very, very soon.”

This is all much more specific than what we’ve heard over the past year, as Seehorn and Gilligan in particular have tiptoed around the continuation of the story. We knew it was coming, but it seemed like work on it was progressing very slowly.

Season one ended with not just the main character, Carol, being given a nuclear weapon by the invading aliens, but a promise that she was still 100% focused on trying to return the world to its previous, pre-invaded state. Will that take one more season? Two? More? We’ll have to see what Gilligan and the team have cooked up.

And with two scripts complete, the rest of the season planned out, and filming starting soon, maybe we’ll be once again watching Pluribus this time next year.
