She is a descendant of Khan, so why should fans be surprised by her boldness?
More and more footage from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 continues to drop ahead of the streaming series’ highly anticipated return. However, the latest clip confirms that not only does Una Chin-Riley’s (Rebecca Romijn) landing party encounter dinosaurs this season, but La’an Noonien Singh (Christina Chong) actually punches a “Jurassic” opponent with her bare fist!
Check out the video of La’an versus a little T-Rex dinosaur below, courtesy of Trek’s official Instagram account, which reads as follows: “Every Starfleet crew has one. See them all in a new season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, coming to @ParamountPlus July 23! #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds.”
The new clip, which features tons of never-before-seen footage from Strange New Worlds season 4, breaks down each of the show’s most beloved characters with a simple description, and La’an is described as “The Under-Communicator.”
And, true to form, during La’an’s portion of the video, the USS Enterprise’s security chief takes a swing at a young T-Rex, aka Nanotyrannus, with her bare hands! Una can also be seen shooting a full-sized T-Rex with her phaser earlier in the footage.
Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia) looks stupefied at La’an throwing fisticuffs with the dinosaur and then says, “You just punched it.” Number One (Romijn) is also stunned by La’an’s attack, and, surprisingly, the creature runs off after the descendant of Khan uses her fists to vanquish the threat.
Okay, I was delighted to see La’an throwing down with a dinosaur! However, if you keep watching the footage, my favorite part teases that Mr. Spock (Ethan Peck) and La’an’s romantic relationship is still a thing in season 4, and they can be seen together near the end of the footage eyes closed and forehead to forehead.
Things didn’t end well with Spock’s other SNW romances (T’Pring, Christine Chapel), so I’m hoping Star Trek’s most iconic Vulcan gets a win for once, at least through season 4. Now, what did you think of the new footage?
