War Thunder might be a video game about real-world military vehicles from across history clashing against one another for goodies and gubbins, but its developer Gaijin Entertainment is also about recounting the events and experiences of major battles. No more was that apparent than with its documentary series Frog Fathers, a pair of documentaries released in 2024 and 2026 centered around Naval special ops missions during World War II.
If you happened to have missed those two documentaries, or if this is the first time you’d ever heard of them, then we’ve got good news for you because both films are heading to online streaming platforms on Tuesday, November 10th, making them readily available for fans of the game and military history buffs alike.
Both documentaries tell the stories of efforts by Naval special forces during the Normandy landing and the Battle of Okinawa through the eyes of two different teams of Navy SEAL veterans, who follow in the footsteps of their predecessors, speak with historians, honor the fallen, and in the case of the visit to Okinawa, try and help restore coral reefs that were destroyed in the fighting.
The movies will be available on demand in the U.S. and Canada on AppleTV, Fandango At Home, Amazon, and YouTube, though pre-order of the movies is available for the first two platforms should one wish to do so.
