Getting a confirmed railway ticket can feel like a victory in itself, but Prime Video’s upcoming series Waiting Hai is turning that familiar frustration into a quirky mystery. The streamer has unveiled the teaser for the MX Original, which promises a mix of comedy, chaos and a scam hiding behind India’s infamous waiting list.
Waiting Hai teaser
Waiting Hai follows Sugam Mishra, a newly appointed Railway Police officer played by Divyenndu, who was last seen in Mirzapur: The Movie. His first brush with the system puts him on the waiting list, but what begins as an ordinary ticketing headache soon raises questions.
Sugam notices a curious pattern, while regular passengers struggle to secure confirmed seats, certain agents appear to have little trouble getting tickets. Suspicious of the seemingly convenient system, he begins digging into what could be a much larger operation.
The teaser introduces a world that will feel instantly familiar to anyone who has battled railway bookings. Crowded stations, ticket troubles and the desperation for a confirmed berth provide the backdrop, while the investigation adds a comic mystery to the mix.
Bhuvan Arora joins Divyenndu as a hacker who appears to have his own way of navigating the digital world. His character brings a tech-driven angle to the investigation and soon finds himself on a collision course with Sugam.
What follows is positioned as a cat-and-mouse game between the determined police officer and the elusive hacker. With both seemingly playing by their own rules, the teaser leaves viewers wondering whether they are on opposite sides or could eventually have a common target.
Divyenndu investigates scam
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sameer Vidwans, the series features Kumud Mishra, Vijay Maurya, Harshita Gaur, Srushti Tare and Sunita Rajwar in key roles. Jyoti Deshpande and Ajay Rai have produced the series.
The teaser appears to lean into the absurdity of a problem that millions of Indian travellers know all too well, while building a larger story around it. Instead of treating railway ticket troubles as merely an everyday inconvenience, Waiting Hai uses the system as the entry point into a nationwide scam.
With its blend of desi humour, railway chaos and a scam investigation, Waiting Hai looks set to turn the dreaded waiting list into an entertaining mystery. The series will stream on Prime Video and MX Player.
