Usher is no stranger to making confessions.

It’s why he had no problem setting the record straight after an online conspiracy theory that he used a clone of himself to perform at his and Chris Brown’s Aug. 7 concert stop in New Jersey went viral.

The theory came across Usher’s desk when radio station Power 105.1 shared a video from the concert on Aug. 8, writing, “Sooooo folks are debating if this was really @USHER or he had a clone.”

The “Confessions” singer, however, was quick to shut down the rumor.

“Ya’ll are funny…clone? They can’t clone this??” Usher wrote in the comments section of the post. “How ya’ll come up with this? AI ain’t that advanced.”

In the video, the 47-year-old—dressed in white pants, a matching jacket, a backwards hat and sunglasses—appeared to be confused about where the stage entrance was before stepping out for the performance of his 2004 hit “Yeah!”

And while the Grammy winner’s entrance mix-up only fanned the flames of the conspiracy, armchair experts had a few reasons to believe that Usher was trading places with someone else.

“First off, The real Usher wouldn’t have had to be guided to the right side of the stage,” one user commented under the post. “Usher also doesn’t walk with urgency, nor dance as fast as this impersonator did. Usher is smoother with his moves and walk.”

“He also want to make sure you see his face card and waves at all times!!” the user added, theorizing that this performer was also “taller than Usher.”

Meanwhile, another fan simply chimed in, “That ain’t him lol.”

But other supporters of the “My Boo” singer (born Usher Terry Raymond IV) know when daddy’s home.

“Thats him,” one fan wrote in the comments section. “That set just wasn’t it for the crowd that’s all. He’s over 40 and he tied ya’ll some dances might be lighter than others.”

And while Usher and Brown’s R&B Tour has certainly sparked discourse online since it began in June, the “Burn” hitmaker hopes fans stay focused on the music.

“It’s not about me and my brother coming together,” Usher told Associated Press in an interview published June 24. “We come together in support of our fans of R&B.”

As for the impact he hopes joining forces with Brown will have on other artists?

“There is power in numbers,” he said. “After this becomes the success that I know it’s going to be, you will see more collaborations. You will see artists beginning to understand, ‘Wait a minute. We actually serve more of our fans when we bring them together, as opposed to trying to do it all by ourselves.’”
