The United States Mint has released official images of its upcoming 2026 Robin gold coin and silver medals, revealing the final artwork that will bring the DC Super Hero to the Mint’s Comic Art Coin and Medal Program.

The images pair an action-focused obverse of Robin swinging forward with a rope with a reverse rooted in the character’s circus origins, showing him performing high above a crowd while his mother watches from below.

Before final selections were made, the U.S. Mint presented dozens of candidate Robin designs to the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) and Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) in September 2025.

There was little disagreement over the obverse. Design O-03 emerged as the overall favorite of both advisory panels and also ranked first with Warner Bros. Discovery. It portrays a sharp and focused Robin swinging forward with the aid of a rope. The finalized medal obverse carries LIBERTY. Additional inscriptions appear on the gold coin, including IN GOD WE TRUST and the date 2026.

Original line art showing the recommended 2026 Robin coin and medal designs with the CCAC and CFA agreeing on the obverse but favoring different reverses

The reverse selection was less settled during the advisory process. The CCAC recommended R-01, depicting Robin standing guard before a vault with Batman’s shadow looming behind him. The CFA believed Batman’s presence pulled attention away from Robin and instead backed R-04, which was also Warner Bros. Discovery’s first choice.

    That CFA-favored design ultimately prevailed.

The reverse places Dick Grayson, Robin’s original identity, center stage, soaring through the air on aerial straps above a crowd as his mother looks up from below, drawing on his origins as a circus acrobat before becoming Batman’s crime-fighting partner. On the medals, inscriptions read ROBIN and FEARLESS AND LOYAL.

The 2026 Robin lineup includes a half-ounce 24-karat $50 gold proof coin struck at the West Point Mint and two .999 fine silver medals from the Philadelphia Mint, weighing 2.5 ounces and 1 ounce. The silver medals carry a matte finish, while the gold coin is produced in proof.

As with other releases in the Comic Art series, the principal artwork is shared across formats, with required coin inscriptions appearing on the gold piece and character-focused inscriptions used on the medals.

    Release, Pricing and Availability

The Mint currently lists the Robin gold coin and silver medals for release in fall 2026.

    • 2.5-ounce silver medal: $400
    • 1-ounce silver medal: $200
    • Half-ounce gold coin: Pricing TBD

For reference, previously released half-ounce gold coins in the series are currently priced at $3,270 each.

The gold coin currently carries a household order limit of one, while the Mint lists no household limit for either silver medal. Mintage limits have not been published, but they are expected to follow the 2025 issues, which were capped at 10,000 for the gold coin and 25,000 for the 2.5-ounce silver medal. The 1-ounce silver medal has no mintage limit, and Mint subscriptions for the series are open, allowing collectors to automatically receive future issues as they are released.

Robin will also appear with Supergirl and Green Lantern in a 2026 three-medal set struck at the Denver Mint. That set uses half-dollar-sized copper-nickel medals with the same character designs and is also available by subscription.

Robin is one of three DC characters featured in the Mint’s 2026 Comic Art lineup, alongside Supergirl, whose coin designs were unveiled earlier, and Green Lantern. The multi-year program began in 2025 with Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman and will continue in 2027 with The Flash, Batgirl and Aquaman.

The program was developed through a collaboration between the U.S. Mint and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, using original coin and medal artwork to highlight each character and the themes associated with them.
