A man has gone viral for unexpectedly liking the video game Dressmaker, a cozy indie game inspired by real dressmaking that’s been trending online since it was released in late September.
In his video, the Twitch streamer starts out by saying how he thinks he won’t enjoy the game too much, and that he will probably leave it to play Valheim. However, some hours later, he found himself fully invested in the game.
The video documenting his humorous change of heart has since garnered more than 4.2 million views on TikTok in less than a month, as well as another 2.2 million views on Instagram since it was shared there four days ago.
Ethan, who goes by Etropis on social media, is a gamer, Twitch streamer and content creator who describes himself as a variety streamer, stating how he usually gets fixated on a certain genre of game until he exhausts it and moves on to another.
He also states that his “usual games tend to be survival-crafting types, horror, and/or cozy types” but that he tends to “branch out a good bit.”
Ethan posts clips from his streams to his TikTok account, reserving his Instagram account for photos and stories of his two orange cats.
He had never gone viral on either platform until a recent clip of his was so successful on TikTok that he posted it to Instagram as well, where it also went viral.
Here’s what happens in the viral video as Ethan finds himself liking the game Dressmaker a lot more than he was expecting.
The video starts with Ethan on the top half, sitting in front of a microphone and wearing headphones, and he also has a green-screen background. The lower half of the video shows the home screen for the game Dressmaker. “When you buy a game jokingly but end up getting addicted,” Ethan writes on the video.
“I’m so excited to play this and realize that it’s not my jam,” Ethan states. “But you know what? You gotta try once,” he says. “And I already asked my fiancé,” he continues, “I was like, listen, if I don’t like this game, will you play this? And they’re like, yeah, yeah,” he explains.
“So it’s good,” Ethan says, holding his hands up. “It was bought with a purpose,” he states, “and if we end up not liking it, we will move on to Valheim,” he adds.
Then, the video shows a SpongeBob Time Card meme, which reads, “three hours later,” as a voice says this out loud.
The video then cuts to Ethan speaking while looking at the camera, now wearing a cardigan. On the lower half of the screen, the game shows several fabrics on a shelf labeled “The International Emporium.” Ethan has his mouse on a fabric called “Blush Linen,” and information about it is displayed below the shelf.
“That Blush Linen,” Ethan says, “it kind of brings out the pink and the orange of the Liberty Floral while also maintaining the same earthy tone as the Leaf Green,” he expresses.
Ethan pauses for a second to consider before saying, “I think that’s a good choice. Let’s go with that,” he concludes, clicking on the fabric, which is brought forward and extended.
“I had a feeling I would enjoy the game, but not to this degree,” Ethan writes in his video’s caption. “Highly recommend Dressmaker (2026) to anyone looking for a cozy, slow-paced creative game with a lot of attention to detail! Hope ya’ll enjoy it as much as I did,” he continues.
In the comments, people joked about Ethan’s sudden love for the game, while others shared how they or a loved one had also suddenly gotten addicted to it.

Others also joked about the cardigan’s sudden appearance and how Ethan talked about the different fabrics.
