Twitch has rolled out a redesigned version of “Stream Recaps,” replacing an earlier iteration launched in May that the company says fell short of its goals.

The original “Recaps” required streamers to manually compile and post their own clips, disappeared after 48 hours, and were frequently confused with Stories The new version addresses each of those issues. “Recaps” now live permanently on a dedicated shelf on a streamer’s channel page, organized by broadcast, so viewers can revisit highlights from missed streams at any time

“Recaps” can also publish automatically, about an hour after a stream ends, drawing from clips the streamer or their editors have already created during the broadcast. Streamers retain control over the process: they can review and edit clips before publication, make changes afterward, or disable auto-publishing entirely. During a live stream, saying “Twitch Clip That” creates a clip and adds it to the “Recap” automatically, and streamers can later crop clips, edit captions, or adjust layout.

On the viewer side, Twitch is adding a new shelf to the mobile feed that surfaces “Recaps” and “Stories” together from followed channels, prioritized by engagement. The update also draws a clearer line between the two formats: clips now live in “Recaps,” while “Stories” remain reserved for text, image, and video updates.

Twitch frames the feature as an extension of “Stream Rewind,” its earlier tool for revisiting live moments, aimed at helping viewers stay connected to communities they cannot watch live without adding to streamers’ production workload.

The company is pairing the relaunch with “Recaps Spotlight,” an optional program for eligible Twitch Partners launching October 27. Through it, standout clips from a partner’s “Recaps” may be promoted on Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, extending distribution beyond Twitch itself.
