Hey Hey It’s Saturday host Daryl Somers has announced plans to revive the hit show more than 25 years after the series ended.
The Aussie variety program, which ran for 28 years from 1971 to 1999 before it’s brief revival in 2010, is set to return on a dedicated new streaming platform, according to the three-time Gold Logie winner.
But, this won’t be a reboot. The 75-year-old revealed the streaming platform will air re-runs, on top of exclusive new Hey Hey related content, multiple outlets report.
The veteran TV star said the exciting decision came after the “enormous” resurgence of interest in the show across social media.
“I guess a lot of people my age are slowing down, but I’ve never been busier,” Somers told Woman’s Day.
“Even if I have to point out to people sometimes that I’m not 105, and I’m still here!”
