Turtle Beach Kevin the Cube Switch 2 Controller Revealed

Turtle Beach just unveiled what might be the most eye-catching third-party controller in the growing Nintendo Switch 2 accessory market. Revealed during Gamescom celebrations, the new Rematch Wireless RGB Controller is built around Fortnite’s iconic Kevin the Cube, and the result is a genuinely striking piece of hardware.

A purple cube gets the RGB treatment it deserves

Here’s the thing about Kevin the Cube: it has been one of Fortnite’s most beloved and bizarre lore fixtures since Season 5, a glowing purple enigma covered in runes that reshaped the map and captured the imagination of millions of players. Turtle Beach has taken that energy and poured it directly into a controller shell.

The pad arrives in a deep purple colorway with rune-style markings etched across the exterior, matching the aesthetic of its in-game namesake almost perfectly. Pick it up and the runes come alive, cycling through a rainbow spread of RGB lighting with 4 distinct lighting effects to choose from. The matching purple buttons tie the whole look together rather than feeling like an afterthought.

Priced at $69.99, it sits in the same range as the rest of the Rematch lineup. A separate listing through the Turtle Beach online store puts it at $54.99, so pricing may vary depending on where you pick it up.

What you actually get inside the box

Visuals aside, the specs here are worth paying attention to. The Rematch line has already built a reputation for punching above its price point, and the Kevin the Cube edition carries the same foundation:

    • TMR thumbsticks for drift-resistant precision
    • Mappable back buttons for customizable inputs
    • 40-hour battery life on a single wireless charge
    • RGB lighting with 4 selectable effects
    • Officially licensed for Nintendo Switch 2

    tip
Every Kevin the Cube controller purchase includes a Fortnite Capoeira emote that can be claimed in-game at launch.

You won’t find HD rumble or NFC reading here, which keeps it below the Switch 2 Pro controller tier. But for players who want a wireless pad that looks genuinely special without paying premium prices, the trade-off is reasonable.

Kevin the Cube’s controller debut fits perfectly with Fortnite’s current moment

Timing matters here. Kevin the Cube remains deeply woven into Fortnite’s identity, with the character’s presence extending well beyond lore into cosmetics and collectibles. If you want the full picture on how Kevin’s influence has spread across the game’s current content, the Fortnite Cube Sprites all variants and locations guide covers every Cube Sprite in Chapter 7 Season 3 and where to track them down.

The controller launches October 8, which gives Switch 2 owners a few weeks to decide whether the purple cube deserves a spot in their setup. Given how well the Rematch Mario and Luigi pad has been received since its release, the Kevin the Cube edition has a strong foundation to build on.

For anyone getting back into Fortnite on Switch 2, or just looking for a controller that generates a reaction when friends see it on your desk, this is one to watch. Check out the full Fortnite guides collection to stay on top of everything happening in the game ahead of the controller’s October launch.
