Trip The Light takes a double turn with VR dance sim on quest

Trip the Light is a VR dance game that recently entered early access on Quest.

Developed by Dark Arts Software, Trip the Light is a dance game that uses both a fully immersive VR environment and mixed reality passthrough to see your surroundings. The game, which first arrived on the broader Quest platform last month, lets you collaborate with digital partners to learn new dance routines, complete challenges, earn points, and gradually build combos.

In its current Early Access build, Trip the Light aims to teach salsa using virtual instructors, which the studio says are based on real-life experts. There’s also a “Rhythm Challenge” mode that tests your ability to understand solo dance styles like hip-hop, line dancing, and club moves.

More dance styles will be added soon, and those who purchase the early access release will receive a “First Dance Edition.” It’s not clear what more features we can expect in the full release, but Dark Arts Software confirmed that early adopters will receive “all the base modes, features, and assets we’ve built now (and) in the interim.”

Trip the Light is currently available on the broader Meta Quest platform.
