Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown Ups is just a day away from release. The film’s Hindi version has undergone major changes as directed by CBFC. From muting abusive dialogues to reducing a drug abuse scene, the action thriller was subjected to several modifications. To note, the film received an A certificate with a runtime of over 3 hours.

    Toxic Hindi version CBFC changes

As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, Toxic’s Hindi version has faced several changes following instructions from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The Examining Committee asked the makers to replace an abusive word, while an offensive dialogue in the first half and an abusive dialogue directed at a child in the second half were ordered to be muted.

A scene depicting drug abuse was also shortened as per the CBFC’s instructions. Additionally, an obscene dialogue in the second half was replaced. The statutory warning, which appeared in Tamil, was also changed to Hindi. Following these modifications, the Hindi version of Toxic was cleared by the CBFC. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 3 hours, 14 minutes and 12 seconds.

The film has been in the news for its intimate scenes after the song Tabaahi dropped. Addressing the backlash, Yash said at the trailer launch, “Vulgarity is wrong. I haven’t even kissed, as you may have noticed. There is a certain line, and we understand that. Toxic is for Gen Zs. It’s for the conversations you guys are having, what problems you guys have with the seniors.”

    More about Toxic

Toxic is witnessing an overwhelming response with its advance bookings ahead of its release, with shows going houseful. Amid the surging demand, cinema halls in Mumbai have added 6 AM and 11.45 PM shows of the Yash-starrer. Interestingly, it’s not just the occupancy that is proving the film’s popularity. The premium ticket rates for Toxic have also climbed sharply in Mumbai and Bengaluru. The costliest ticket currently being sold in Mumbai is reportedly for Rs 2,600, including taxes.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru isn’t far behind, with tickets for a premium show reportedly selling for Rs 2,181, including taxes.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic features a prominent ensemble cast, including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria alongside Yash. The film is set to arrive in theatres on August 26.
