Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic getting Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch physical release in Japan with English support, pre-orders open

Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic – the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil will have a physical release on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch, it’s been revealed. It will be available on December 17, 2026.
Currently the boxed versions have only been announced for Japan. That said, English is one of the supported languages. You can import a copy for either Nintendo Switch 2 or Switch and play it on your system regardless of region.
We’ll also mention that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic – the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil is a proper cartridge. You don’t have to worry about this one being a game-key card.
Below is a brief overview of the game:
Touhou Koumakyou from the Touhou makes its debut on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Take control of Reimu the shrine maiden or Marisa the magician as you set out to resolve an incident threatening Gensokyo.
The New Classic version features upgraded high-resolution visuals, with every BGM track arranged by ZUN. It also introduces a new mode, where you can take on the game with unlimited lives.
You can also play the Classic version, which perfectly preserves the original 2002 gameplay.
