Tim Curry‘s cause of death has been made public.

    How Did Tim Curry Die?

The legendary actor, known for roles in The Rocky Horror Picture Show andClue, sadly passed away on August 25 at the age of 80, and now we know the official cause.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reports that Timdied of coronary artery disease

Stroke and kidney cancer are listed as significant conditions that also contributed to his death, but were not listed as the underlying cause.

The documents also reveal that no operations were performed for his stroke, kidney cancer or coronary artery disease.

He suffered a major stroke in 2012, after which he largely transitioned to voiceover projects.

    What Is Coronary Artery Disease?

MayoClinic defines the disease as follows:

“Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a common type of heart disease. It affects the main blood vessels that supply blood to the heart, called the coronary arteries. In CAD, there is reduced blood flow to the heart muscle. A buildup of fats, cholesterol and other substances in and on the artery walls, a condition called atherosclerosis, usually causes coronary artery disease. The buildup, called plaque, makes the arteries narrow.”

What Did His Rep Say About His Stroke at the Time?

“Tim is doing great….’He absolutely can speak and is recovering at this time and in great humor,” the rep said at the time.

What Tim Curry Said About His Stroke Last Year

“I was having a massage at the time and I didn’t even actually notice anything, but the guy who was doing the massage said, ‘I’m worried about you, I want to call an ambulance.’ And he did, and I said, ‘That’s so silly,’” he recalled of when his stroke happened

Why Tim Curry Used a Wheelchair Up Until His Death

“I still can’t walk, which is why I’m in this silly chair, and that’s very limiting,” Tim explained last year. “So I won’t be singing and I won’t be dancing very soon. I still have real problems with my left leg.”

    Was Tim Curry Married?

Tim was never married nor had any children.

Throughout his life, while the late actor was in the spotlight, he kept his private life guarded.

In his 2025 book, “Vagabond: A Memoir,” Tim offered a brief response to those hoping to find out more about his personal life in the introduction.

Our thoughts continue to be with Tim Curry‘s loved ones at this difficult time. We have sadly lost several stars in 2026.
