The elementary school years—especially kindergarten through second grade—are some of the most imaginative of childhood, and the toys kids play with at this time can have a lasting impact. Beyond keeping kids entertained, great toys help build creativity, confidence, and problem-solving and social skills. That’s why the Good Housekeeping Institute takes toy testing for the 5- to 8-year-old age group so seriously, identifying the products that kids genuinely love (not just the ones generating the most buzz!).
For Good Housekeeping’s 2026 Toy Awards, our team of experts—including engineers, product analysts and parenting editors—reviewed hundreds of toys and collected feedback from 370 at-home kid testers whose parents completed detailed surveys <a href="https://comicvibe.com/i-dont-talk-to-a-single-soul-in-real-life-about-this/” title=”‘I Don’t Talk to a Single Soul in Real Life About This’”>about engagement, ease of use, and overall enjoyment. We also hosted a day of play, when children explored toys side by side while our experts observed which ones truly stood out. These winners impressed our experts and, most important, kept kids coming back to play.
