The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Final Member Selection Tournament depicts the intense internal battles among Team Japan to determine the starting roster for the upcoming U-17 World Cup final match against Spain.

The Prince of Tennis follows Ryoma Echizen, a tennis prodigy at Seishun Academy Middle School, as he grows alongside his teammates and competes against rival players. Serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to 2008, the popular franchise was adapted into a TV anime in 2001, a stage musical in 2003, and a live-action film starring Kanata Hongo in 2006, with total manga circulation surpassing 60 million copies.

Its sequel series, The Prince of Tennis II, began serialization in Jump SQ. in 2009. Shifting the stage to international competition, Ryoma and his rivals faced off against national teams from around the world until the manga reached its final chapter in August 2026, bringing a close to the series’ 27-year history.
