The Night Agent Season 4: Everything We Know About the Final Season
It’s time for the Netflix thriller series to start wrapping things up
Phil OwenJuly 10, 2026 at 3:47 p.m. PT

Good thing The Night Agent, the addictive thriller series from The Shield creator Shawn Ryan, was a hit for Netflix from day one. The wormy tale, about a random U.S. government employee being sucked into a wide-spanning conspiracy, was too compelling for mystery lovers to ignore. But after drawing a massive audience for Season 1, the series has lost some viewers for its two follow-up seasons. Season 3 — which moved beyond the story of the Matthew Quirk novel it was based on — was a rebound in quality, according to critics, and Season 4 will be a moment of truth for the blockbuster series. Let’s take a look at the details we have so far about the upcoming season of The Night Agent.
The Night Agent Season 2 release date prediction
We don’t have a planned release window for The Night Agent Season 4, much less a specific date. But, since production started at the beginning of May 2026, we probably don’t have to fear any sort of large, multi-year hiatus
Is Season 4 the end of The Night Agent?
It is. Netflix has already announced that the thriller series will be ending with Season 4. The timing of the announcement was a little bit interesting, however, coming on the very same day the series began production on Season 4. Does that mean that showrunner Shawn Ryan and his writing team had to punt on whatever they’d previously written for Season 4 in order to turn its season finale into a series finale? Or had they already planned during Season 4’s development process to wrap things up with this season, and Netflix held back the announcement?
More on Netflix:
Is Rose coming back for Season 4?
Peter’s partner and love interest from Seasons 1 and 2 is going to return during Season 4 after missing out on Season 3. But we don’t know how much she’ll be in it, because word of her return didn’t trickle out until after Season 4 began production and Netflix revealed that Season 4 would end the series
The Night Agent Season 4 cast
The Night Agent isn’t the sort of show where the majority of the cast returns each season, and Basso himself is the only existing cast member that Netflix has confirmed for Season 4 thus far. And with Season 4 being the end of the story, you should probably expect more familiar faces to return than usual, like the previously discussed Rose. And we wouldn’t be surprised if we even got some cameos by dead characters in flashbacks
In April 2026, Deadline reported new cast additions: Titus Welliver as Duval, a DOJ prosecutor; Trevante Rhodes as Dom, Peter’s new partner; Li Jun Li as Dom’s wife Min; and Elizabeth Lail as Zoe, Peter’s ex-fiancée. Another round of casting was announced in May: Abigail Breslin as Cahlin, a young FBI agent investigating Night Action; David Denman as Ford, a veteran CIA agent; and Annabeth Gish as Holland, another FBI agent investigating Peter.

Where the story left off in The Night AgentSeason 3
In Season 3, Peter and a couple of new friends managed to expose a conspiracy facilitated by a corrupt banker and engineered by the US President and First Lady, which forced them out of office — an idea that comes off as kinda adorable in our current real-world political climate. But the takeaway that matters here is that Season 3 didn’t end on any kind of cliffhanger. Peter accomplished his mission, and decided to take a little bit of a sabbatical
That doesn’t mean Season 3’s story threads are all concluded, though. We should expect Season 4 to expose that what the First Family was doing in Season 3 was part of some greater scheme
