The New Prince of Tennis creator Takeshi Konomi has completed work on the manga’s final chapter. The series will conclude in the September issue of Jump SQ., which goes on sale August 4. Its ending will also bring the wider The Prince of Tennis manga series to a close, concluding a 27 year story that began in 1999. Following the announcement, Konomi updated his official X account on July 16 to report that he had finished writing and drawing the final chapter

The Prince of Tennis, also known as Tenipuri, is a coming of age story about Ryoma Echizen, a gifted junior high school student and member of the Seishun Academy tennis club. The story follows Ryoma as he grows alongside his teammates through tennis and faces a colorful cast of rivals.The manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to 2008. It was adapted into a television anime in 2001 and a musical in 2003. A live action film starring Kanata Hongo followed in 2006. The manga series has more than 60 million copies in circulation.The sequel, The New Prince of Tennis, began serialization in Jump SQ. in 2009. The story moved to the international stage, where Ryoma and the other players have competed in intense matches against national representatives from around the world.
