A spinoff of “The Lincoln Lawyer” starring Cobie Smulders is in early development at Netflix.
According to Deadline, which first reported news of the project, the series would center around Smulders reprising her “Lincoln Lawyer” role as Mickey Haller’s (Manuel Garcia Rulfo) half-sister, Artemisia “Emi” Finch. The character debuted in the Season 4 finale of “The Lincoln Lawyer” back in February and is set to return in the upcoming fifth and final season.

Per the description for “The Lincoln Lawyer” Season 5, which will be based on the Michael Connelly novel “Resurrection Walk” and will consist of 10 episodes:
“Mickey Haller’s (Manuel Garcia Rulfo) world is upended when the half-sister he never knew existed, Emi (Cobie Smulders), comes to him with a plea to help free a wrongfully convicted woman. In a season defined by blood ties and buried secrets, Mickey takes on a grueling habeas petition to overturn a six-year-old murder conviction, but the deeper he digs the more nefarious the forces arrayed against him become. David E. Kelley created “The Lincoln Lawyer” for television and serves as executive producer. Ted Humphrey developed the show and serves as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Dailyn Rodriguez. Connelly, Ross Fineman, Barry Jossen, Tana Jamieson and Matthew J Lieberman also serve as executive producers. A+E Studios produces.
