The Journey of Rein and Lily’s Second Lives: “Chi-Fuyo” Anime Unveils Creditless OP and ED Theme!

If you haven’t been keeping up with the wild, unpredictable ride that is “The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life” (or Chi-Fuyo), you’re missing out on one of the season’s most unique offerings. Based on the popular light novels by Rokushima Asa, the series is currently airing every Tuesday late-night on Crunchyroll.

The production has just unleashed the creditless versions of both the opening and ending themes for your viewing pleasure! Fans can now fully appreciate the vibrant visuals of sumika’s high-octane opening theme, “Ember Torch,” alongside the soulful ending theme, “Role Playing Life” by Luov. In a special treat for the community, the ending sequence features storyboards personally handled by Gyomuyomochi, the artist behind the series’ manga adaptation.

Furthermore, we’ve received an official comment from Luov regarding their inspiration and feelings toward the ending theme.

First teased in the main promotional video, sumika’s Opening Theme, “Ember Torch,” is a high-velocity anthem that perfectly captures the pure, unyielding optimism of the protagonist, Rein. It evokes the refreshing feeling of setting out on an adventure with a crew of misfits whose “second lives” are anything but simple. This non-credit version allows fans to fully appreciate the visual craft of the OP. The charming characters originally brought to life by manga artist Gyomuyomochi are animated with incredible love and energy by the team at P.A. WORKS, creating a sequence that fully immerses you in the show’s unique world.

On the other hand, the newly unveiled Ending Theme is “Role Playing Life” by Luov. The sequence features Lily Flambert, a girl grappling with a dark past, singing her heart out while being watched over by her newfound family: Rein, Margaret, Mirabelle, Elsie, and Nina. With storyboards by Gyomuyomochi, the sequence is packed with the chaotic energy that fans have come to love about “Chi-Fuyo,” including Rein’s sudden intrusions and the steady, silent gaze of the amorphous blob-dog, Acorn. It’s a beautifully condensed look at what makes this series so special.

“When I first read ‘Chi-Fuyo,’ I found myself laughing out loud at the sheer chaos of it all, only to be caught off guard by the sudden, heavy emotional turns. That wide emotional range is what makes this work so captivating.

I was deeply moved by how the members of Blue Crystal change as they meet and connect with one another. That’s why I poured all of that emotional energy into the Ending Theme, ‘Role Playing Life’.

The core message is that even if you don’t feel you have a specific ‘value’ or ‘role’ to play, there is still a place where you can return and just be yourself. I hope you enjoy the song along with the lingering emotions of each episode!”

With the second episode now behind us, “Chi-Fuyo” is already generating massive buzz across social media. This unpredictable story, driven by a cast of wildly unique characters, is only set to step up from here. Keep your eyes on this one—the journey has only just begun!

Rein, an enchanter, is suddenly expelled from his guild one day. But instead of despairing, he declares, “Now I can do anything!” and begins reclaiming the massive number of enhancement points he once poured into his guildmates’ gear, setting off on a brand-new path as an adventurer.

Gathering around him are people carrying wounds that don’t fade easily: a genius adventurer who shut her heart after her party was slaughtered, a warrior who lost her family, and an assassin raised from childhood to kill. Yet Rein never rejects their pasts or their scars—he accepts them all with bright, straightforward warmth.

The stage is a unique fantasy world where Uzis, slingshots, and even yakuza exist side by side. But in this world, the more people rely on convenient technology, the more their magic weakens, and adventurers grow fragile.

Intelligent, vicious monsters roam freely, while in the underworld, outlaws bare their greed and ambition as schemes and betrayals intertwine. In a world where ideals and justice are easily crushed, adventurers fight on with nothing but their magic and their convictions.

This is the story of those who have lost their place in the world finding a new way to live. Rein and his companions’ wild, free-spirited second life begins now!
