The only cure for what ails those of us in the Bad Place is…wait for it…The Good Place. The beloved comedy is available to stream on Netflix internationally (sorry, US), but not for long.
‘The Good Place’ Is Leaving Netflix Internationally
Premiering on this day, 10 years ago, The Good Placefollows Eleanor Shellstrop, a woman with a questionable (well, more like “nonexistent”) moral compass who winds up in a utopian afterlife. It doesn’t take long for Eleanor to realize she doesn’t belong there, and thus begins a desperate scheme to retain her cushy spot in this heaven-like realm.
The series stars Kristen Bell as Eleanor, William Jackson Harper as Chidi Anagonye, Jameela Jamil as Tahani Al-Jamil, D’Arcy Carden as Janet, Manny Jacinto as Jason Mendoza, and Ted Danson as Michael. Michael Schur served as creator and showrunner of the series, which ran for four seasons and consisted of 53 episodes. It took its final bow on Jan. 30, 2020.
The Good Placereceived universal acclaim throughout its run, particularly for its dissection of philosophical concepts, its unique brand of optimism, and its blend of biting humor and heart. It boasts a 97% average on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer and 90% on the Popcornmeter.
It also received 12 Emmy Award nominations, including multiple nods for Danson for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Maya Rudolph, Harper, and Carden were also nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, respectively.
The iconic fantasy-comedy has also been recognized on various best-of lists and rankings, including The Guardian‘s 2019 list of “The 100 Best TV Shows of the 21st Century,” where it sits at No. 69 (Eleanor would enjoy that).
Where ‘The Good Place’ Is Streaming, and Where It Could Go Next for International Fans
While the series departed Netflix in the US and Canada in September 2025, it’s still on the platform in other regions, where it’s labeled a “Netflix Original.” What’s on Netflixreported that Netflix forged a deal with NBCUniversal, the production home for The Good Place, for international distribution rights. The platform became the series’ exclusive home in the UK, Australia, Canada, and more. Per What’s on Netflix, the streaming rights are now reverting to NBCUniversal.
As for where The Good Placecould land next on the international front, it’s anyone’s guess. It could wind up on one of NBC’s platforms like Peacock. If you’re in the US, you can currently watch it on Hulu, Prime Video, and Disney+.
My international friends, you can stream The Good Placeuntil it waves goodbye to Netflix on Sept. 25, 2026.
